Keeping busy

Thank you to everyone who left comments on my last post. I appreciate every one of them.
This is Ailsa, mums fur baby. She is the sweetest little dog you could hope to meet. She was with mum in her final moments and came with us to the funeral. I know she misses mum very much, I often find her curled up outside her bedroom door. She is staying with us for now, but will soon be going to live with a very dear family friend in accordance with mums wishes.
She is very good for me. Being a 13 month old springer spaniel, she has a huge amount of energy and needs lots of walks. She loves to swim so enjoys walks by the river and on the beach. My plan to keep her dry one day back fired, I swear this pup could find a muddy puddle in a desert. And once she finds it, she dives right on in, head first!! She is a clever little soul and makes her own fun with all manner of toys as well as the usual sticks and balls. She does look funny running round with huge great logs in tow and I'm sure she thinks her paws are hands.

Lots of changes

Hi folks, sorry I've been gone so long. Hopefully life will settle again and I can get into a new routine which allows time for my blog.
You may remember my husband and I moved in with my Mum just before Christmas. We came here to support her after she was diagnosed with Leukaemia. Sadly we lost Mum on 13th March. She passed here in her home, it was very quick. I was with her to the very end. We cremated her on March 22nd, during a snowstorm that threatened to bring the whole island to a halt. (Some villages are still snowed in but I believe all the power has been restored) I shall miss my Mum.
Losing Mum wasn't the only big change. I also quit my job. I should have done it 2-3 years ago, but circumstances back then were financially different. I wasn't enjoying the work anymore and after nursing my Mum I really didn't want to go back into a caring role just yet. So I'm on the lookout for something completely different. I think perhaps I'll look for a seasonal post, many places take on staff just for the summer. We hope/plan to be in NZ by Christmas.
