Another new start.

But first a look at some of the things that have been going on at work.
Jo, the activities lady and I showed the residents how to make these beautiful paper angels using books.
I forgot to get a picture of them all together, they are to be used as table dressing on Christmas day. Many of the residents joined in with the activity and we have a whole host of angels waiting for the big day.
They were quite easy to make, but I must confess it felt so very WRONG to be pulling books apart and folding the pages. LOL That said I've been to the op shop looking for some battered old books in order to make one or two of my own.
*
The other day we had a Gingerbread Jingle party for the residents. A local choir came along to sing and we squeezed everybody in to the day room. Delwyn (Another activities lady) and I had made Gingerbread houses.
We had a lot of fun putting them together and Delwyn went to town sticking lollies and sweeties all over everywhere.
They were used as prizes at the Gingerbread party. Everyone who attended was given a ticket. Staff, family members and all of the residents.
I'm pretty sure all of the houses went to residents.
*
And finally, my new start. My very first Celestial Star block.
I cut all of the fabric pieces and started to glue baste them while chatting with Chooky yesterday.
I have a lot more to cut and prepare.
I still didn't sort out or start another sewing machine project, but I have plenty to keep my hands busy.
*
No grand children today, someone has an upset tummy.
I'm sure I will find something to keep me busy.

Ooooh, I like the centre fabric in that block......as a former librarian it hurts to see that angel, even though I know we can't save every book ever written!

Love the angel. Yes it does feel wrong but a good use for old battered books that would only be thrown out. :) The gingerbread houses look good. The celestial star is pretty.

Those purples are gorgeous, Lou!!! Yay, the Celestial stars have begun for you. Yours are EPP and mine was FPP.
Gingerbread houses are a lot of work, but fun. I bet the winners really were feeling lucky.

The stars are beautiful! Many years ago (decades) I made gingerbread houses to sell and agree they are a lot of work!
