This year is flying by.
May arrived here in NZ with a wintry storm. Cold Southerly winds pushing lots and lots of rain had settled in the evening of 29th April and kept on going. We were lucky here in Timaru just to get a really good soaking with over 48 hours of constant rain, sometimes just light and at other times very heavy. Further North they got even more of a soaking, which caused flooding, road closures and land slides. More than one district declared an emergency. In the mountains the road closures were caused by snow, and there are some beautiful Wintry images to be found. But it's only May! This is a bit too early for such cold weather. Today things are better, we have a beautiful sunny day here in Timaru. I should be going out for a walk, before the next band of rain arrives but instead I'm playing.
Deanna drew the number 8 for this months Chookshed Challengers. For me that means I should pull out my quilting rulers and have a practice with them. It was too cold in my room for any of that yesterday, I sat in the warmth instead and completed my jigsaw puzzle. Then I fiddled around with my sewing but didn't actually do any! So today I went digging in my to be quilted pile and pulled out some table runner size tops.

That hoop holder looks perfect for you. Looking forward to seeing your ruler work.
I had 3 portable quilting hoops but they have disappeared. Did I donate them? Did I give them away? Did someone borrow them and not returned them? Who knows. But definitely you need 2 hands to hand quilt.
Great idea to free up your hands
Sew easy to get side tracked. The hoop holder looks perfect for you.
That's a nifty idea! Storms are not good - so much damage.
Your frame holder looks like a great addition to your kit, nothing like being hands free. I have one with a base that slips under your thigh - used to be called a Fanny Frame but that probably isn't pc any more😂😂
As usual the weather is all upside down - we have had a mini heatwave here this week! xx
The runners will be ideal for practising ruler work, but yes, it is definitely important to test that hoop holder.
That hoop holder looks a great idea Lou. You have some great projects going on there. Didn't April pass by in the blink of an eye!!
I do like the clamp idea.... I have one of those ones you sit on but I haven't found it comfortable....

Great shopping Lou, it looks like your new toy will work a treat. Yes, even up here the weather has turned a bit cooler - and we were pleased that wet weather moved off Northland - but sorry it caused problems elsewhere. Enjoy your time playing with your rulers once you get to them!
The hoop holder looks great I can't wait to see your ruler project good luck and don't be too critical on your self finished is better than perfect
The frame holder looks good - is it working how you were hoping still? I'm trying to catch up on some of my blog reading ...... but I keep getting distracted lol
