You know how it goes. You're minding your own business—rippling away on a blanket, plotting your next stash-busting masterpiece, or simply soaking in the quiet thrill of an almost finished quilt—when bam, a new idea scampers into view. Not just any idea, but one of those bushy-tailed, bright-eyed, irresistible ones. The kind that hijacks your brain and whispers, “Make me. Now.”
Suddenly, your no-spend vow is wobbling, your stash-only promise politely ignored, and you’re deep in the hunt—gathering yarns, notions, and maybe even a specialty button shaped like a mushroom. Sometimes, the squirrel settles. The kit gets packed, labeled, and tucked away for “one day.” Weeks pass. Seasons shift. The squirrel sleeps.
Other times, you set off with good intentions—tail twitching, needles ready—only to be lured away by another idea. Shinier, quicker, or just better timed. Or maybe the energy fizzles, the pattern fights back, or life throws a curveball, and the project ends up in time-out. The naughty corner. The WIP pile. We all have them—kits that wait patiently, yarns that sigh softly from their baskets, projects that whisper, “remember me?”
But this page isn’t about those.
This is the space for the squirrels that ran. The ones that leapt from idea to action with barely a pause for tea. The projects that sparked, sprinted, and somehow got finished before the enthusiasm faded. No guilt, no dust—just pure crafty momentum.
Sometimes the chase is on. The creative instinct kicks in, paws hit the ground, and you follow that squirrel all the way to the finish line—project complete, heart full, glitter optional.
A quick note for fellow squirrel chasers: this page starts now and moves forward. If I tried to track down every impulsive make, every midnight crochet sprint, every “just one more row” detour from years past… well, we’d never get to the fun part. So I’m drawing a gentle line in the yarn. No historical squirrels will be chased, featured, or coaxed out of hiding here. This is a celebration of current and future crafty critters—the ones that scamper in, get made, and leave behind a trail of joy (and maybe a few loose ends). From this year onward, if it’s finished and squirrel-fueled, it belongs here
This is where I celebrate the wins. The squirrels that got chased and caught.
