This last post is not actually about Scrub Stitchin', it's about our final few days in Australia after the retreat.
We left Baradine earlyish on Sunday morning as we had quite a long way to go. Janice and Mick would be towing a caravan and had speed restrictions to maintain. Tony and I in our hire car could move at faster speeds. Janice suggested that we stop at Wellington Caves and meet the giant Wombat and also take a look at the Japanese garden.
We didn't time it right to go on a tour, but it was nice to get out of the car and stretch our legs. We took a look around the gardens.
Met some hopeful fish.
It was only a small garden.
But beautifully serene.
Some bones had been discovered in nearby caves. Notably a Giant Wombat.
As I said, we timed it wrong for the tour so we hit the road and carried on with our journey.
We had a few more days with Janice and Mick before heading home to NZ.
I went along with Janice to her sewing club, that was a nice day. Tony and Mick had some fun, they went four wheel driving and also took one of Micks bikes out for a run.
Janice and I got creative in the kitchen. Janice made a batch of banana muffins.
I made a batch of my chocolate and coconut slice. With added walnuts.
We had a day out in Cowra. A lovely town with a bit of history. Janice explains all about the area here in her post about the day. If you go along for a look, take a cuppa with you. It was a big day. My favorite memory of that day is the pepper trees. They smelled beautiful, and looked pretty too.
Sadly, like all holidays it was over all too quickly and it was time to come home.
Janice and Mick took us to the station to catch the early train back to Sydney. There was plenty of time for one last photo shoot.
Then we waved goodbye and began our journey.
The scenery was beautiful
We kept an eye open for wildlife, but were never fast enough with the camera.
We saw countless bunny rabbits, some kangaroos and a fox. I did capture the morning mist rising from the ground though, it was beautiful.
Our return to New Zealand was a foggy one. After we had landed the pilot told us that we only just made it as the fog was so thick. We got to our car soon after midnight then had a two hour drive back to Timaru. I was ready for my bed when we finally got home.
And that was it, the only thing left to do was the unpacking of our cases later that day, after a good sleep.

What a wonderful time away Lou - you sure packed a lot in to your trip - lots of sights as well as the scrub stitching retreat. It looks like you had wonderful blue sky weather over there. xx
Just how far away are you? Miles? Hours? I admire your desire and dedication!
You certainly made the most of your time. Great to see that you had a chance to look around.
