Before work each morning, I’d been adding a row or two to the mohair sweater. It was a gentle way to start the day. But then the sock obsession took hold—and we all know how that ended. The mohair sweater has been set aside for now. I’ll get back to it, eventually, but I’m feeling a bit “off” knitting at the moment.
The Christmas ornaments are finished (hooray!), and the cross stitch is secret, so I can’t work on that while Tony is around. Looking for something to fill that bit of time before leaving for work in the mornings, I pulled out my EPP work box. As you can see, it was a bit of a mess.
But after a quick tidy up, I threaded a needle and was happily sewing away. I even managed to stitch a couple of hexie flowers together on Sunday after the children had left so the pile is growing again.
I’m still not entirely sure what these blocks will become, but for now I’m enjoying the journey—and the hours lost in Pinterest that we'll call research.
Today marks the first of three days off. I did get a call last night asking if I could cover today. Sorry, but no—I’m off to the dentist this morning. “Saved by the dentist” isn’t quite the phrase I’d choose. She’s going to grind out two old British amalgam fillings and replace them, which likely explains my restless night and this morning’s foggy fatigue.
Still, I’m hoping that after the visit to the torture chamber, I’ll be able to settle in and stitch a few more hexie flowers. Then tomorrow, once the chores are done, I’ll turn my focus back to the cross stitch.
So yes, today begins tired and foggy not looking forward to drills and discomfort—but if I can get through that, there’s a happy reward waiting in the form of hexie flowers and soft stitches. Small steps, small joys. That’s enough for now.
